Despite a lukewarm response at the advance booking, both films have opened in key centers. Kodi has been published in more than 420 screens in Tamil Nadu. Dhanush and Kodi team have moved heaven and earth to talk about the film in the city. Their promotions were apparently working time for the Tamil film enjoys superior occupancy average in the major centers on the day of release.

The film opened to fairly positive reviews and the early state estimates that the film would collect over Rs 4 crore on the first day. The activity of the film would have been much better if the early morning shows are not canceled in many centers, say trade experts. It is anticipated that good word-of-mouth to stimulate the collection of Kodi in the next two days. It is a political thriller, written and directed by RS Durai Senthilkumar. Decent scenario supported with an electrifying performance Dhanush in the lead role won the heart of moviegoers. On the other hand, Kashmora was published in over 440 screens and has opened opening day. The film is reportedly registered a better occupation than Kodi and should easily collect over Rs 5 crore on opening day.

Kashmora got a good start in Kerala as well. As Dhanush, Karthi has promoted the film. With positive reviews from all sections of the audience, it is expected that the multi-genre movie at the end of its first weekend on a high note. Note that the Tamil Nadu theatrical film rights were sold for Rs 25 crore. The film, which has Nayanthara and Sri Divya son in women, was written and directed by Gokul.
