It is likely to show growth in shows later in the day, and make a good collection on the first day. The success of the first film by Gauri Shinde, English Vinglish, had aroused much curiosity about his second adventure, Dear Zindagi. The association of popular actors like Alia Bhatt and Shah Rukh Khan had also featured the film publicly. The buzz was further intensified by its promos, which were well received by viewers.

The trade experts had foreseen that Gauri Shinde’s film would get a decent opening, but also that his first day collection will not be as big as that of Shah Rukh Khan’s regular films, as it is an unconventional film for him . Another reason for the lukewarm response is that the Bollywood superstar does not play a role in its own right, but an extended cameo in Cher Zindagi. The subject of the film is intended to entertain the multiplex hardcore audience.
It is no wonder then that Dear Zindagi got an average start at the national box office and recorded an average of 35 to 40 percent occupancy in the morning shows in major cities. Raj Bansal, film distributor and multiplex owner, tweeted: “#DearZindagi @iamsrk @ aliaa08 opens with medium collections during the morning shows everywhere. Not a good sign … let’s hope it resumes.

The Alia Bhatt and the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer had positive comments from the spectators who watched him in the first show. The word-of-mouth advertising should stimulate its collection in the afternoon and evening shows. According to early trends, Dear Zindagi should collect more than Rs 8 crore net at the Indian box office on the first day. He will beat the English Vinglish record, which raised Rs 2.50 crore on the first day.
